2 Corinthians 5:14-15
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
Our goal is not simply humanitarian relief but Christ-transformation for people and communities. Our main purpose is to introduce salvation by faith through grace alone so that it would enable others to enter into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and to give people every opportunity to grow into mature followers of Him. We do not help others or do good works to earn right standing with God. We love and serve others as a response to the great love God has freely displayed to us in Jesus.
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ”
We strive to be a community of individual believers, local churches, and ministries joining together for Christ’s glory in the world. We believe that each of us has a unique role in the Kingdom of God. Together we form God’s body and He is honored when we work as one. But we are just his laborers. The work is His!
Empowerment not Enablement:
2 Timothy 2:2
“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
We strive to give people ownership over their own lives and communities while making sure everything we do also helps people in the long-term. We work to train and empower locals to do God’s work among their own people.
The Local Church:
“Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”
We believe that the local church is God’s institution for discipleship, fellowship, accountability, and spiritual growth. WEGO strives to not only serve, resource, and mobilize the local church in America but also in the countries where we serve.
