WEGO Statement of Faith   /   WEGO Declaración de Fe /   WEGO Итгэлийн Тунхаг

This is more than just a statement of faith or a system of beliefs- it is the very message that WEGO exists to share. This is the good news of Jesus that has intimately filled the hearts of our staff, board, and volunteers all over the world. May the reality of these truths spring up praise in our hearts to God and compel our lives to action.

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the true, infallible, and inerrant word of God, given as God’s revelation of Himself to man. It was written by human authors through divine inspiration from the Holy Spirit and is the authoritative source for Christian beliefs and living.
Deuteronomy 17:19; Psalms 19:7-10; Luke 24:44-46; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

God
We believe there is only one true God and He exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Author, Creator, and Ruler of the universe and all things exist for His glory.
Genesis 1:1; Exodus 3:14; Deuteronomy 6:4; Jeremiah 10:10; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6

Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who stepped into our world and clothed Himself in our flesh. He is both fully God and fully man and co-equal with the Father and the Spirit. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a perfect life. He performed miracles that proved His deity and authenticated His message, and He became our substitute on the cross by bearing our sin and defeating death and the power of sin through His resurrection. He ascended into heaven where He is exalted at the right hand of the Father and will one day physically return to reign.
Isaiah 7:14; Mark 1:1; John 1:1–18; Romans 1:3–4; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:13–22; Hebrews 1:1-3

Holy Spirit
We believe the Spirit of God is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He draws people to God, performs the work of regeneration, and indwells every believer. The Holy Spirit provides power, conviction, wisdom, and guidance for holy living. He is the Comforter, who intercedes in prayer, gives spiritual gifts, assures of salvation, and seals all believers until the day of redemption.
Genesis 1:2; Isaiah 61:1–3; Matthew 1:18; Luke 12:12; Romans 8:16; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 1:13–14

Mankind
We believe man was originally created in right standing with God and in His image. Through the temptation of Satan, Adam and Eve chose to rebel and sin entered the world. This caused every man to be eternally separated from his Creator and left him as a fully condemned enemy of God who is unable to save himself.
Genesis 1:26–30; Jeremiah 17:5; Romans 1:19–32; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1–22; Colossians 1:21–22

Salvation
We believe salvation is a free gift offered from holy God to fallen man through Jesus. It is given by the unearned favor of God’s grace and received through faith by turning away from sin and toward God, personally accepting Christ’s finished work on our behalf, and confessing Jesus as Savior and Lord of our whole being. In Jesus, we are made alive and receive His righteousness. We are reconciled with God through Christ and become a new creation. We are set free from the bondage of sin and the curse of the law. Through Christ we stand as adopted and well-loved children of God, forever shown the immeasurable riches of His grace.
Matthew 1:21; Romans 1:16–18; Romans 3:23–25; Romans 5:8–10; 2 Corinthians 5:17–20; Galatians 3:13

By Grace, Through Faith Alone
We believe there is no salvation apart from faith in Jesus Christ. All human effort, rule keeping, observances, sacraments, or works in any form are vain attempts at righteousness and forgiveness and will never redeem what was lost at the fall. Salvation is God’s work, completely by God’s grace, only through Jesus, and fully lavished on us by His sacrificial love. The true believer’s confidence is not based on his or her performance but solely on the power and promise of God to save and preserve His people.
John 14:6; Romans 6:14; 1 Corinthians 1:27-31; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:1-10; Colossians 2:13-17

The Church
We believe the Church, which is the body and bride of Christ, is a spiritual fellowship of all believers who have been united under God by the saving work of Christ. All members of the Church are called to be active participants in a local church body, where they can be discipled in the faith, observe the ordinances of baptism and communion, receive care and accountability, live in fellowship, walk in holiness, worship corporately, and be equipped for service in God’s kingdom.
Psalm 107:32; Acts 2:41–42; Acts 20:28; Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 10:19-25

The Great Commission
We believe Jesus commands the Church to go into the entire world and make disciples of every nation, baptizing and teaching those who believe. As Christ’s ambassadors, it is our call and privilege to share the love of Christ and the good news of God’s salvation with every person to the praise of His Name throughout all the earth.
Matthew 9:37–38; Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13–15; 2 Corinthians 5:20

The Resurrection
We believe all men were created to exist forever. Those who are not in Christ will be resurrected, forever punished, and separated from God in hell. Those who are in Christ will be resurrected and given the eternal reward of perfect union with God forever in heaven.
Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:24; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15; Romans 6:23; Galatians 6:8
