by Noah Hardy, WEGO Volunteer
“We all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved”
-Ephesians 2:3-5
We used to be dead but God is gracious. In 100 years from now (or sooner), every Christian alive today will be safely in heaven with the Lord. I deserved eternal suffering and was by nature a child of wrath but when I die I’m going to experience eternal joy in the presence of God. Why? Because He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. We will all appear before the judgment seat of God and all believers will have the joy of saying “Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling.” I can’t wait to see Him.
By grace, John and Naomi Menton are displaying His love to the children of Forever Mercy Children’s Home. They have tasted and seen God’s love and they want to share it, especially with those who are helpless and lost physically just like they were spiritually. I was so blessed to be the first person sent from WEGO to South Africa. God has provided the Menton’s children a safe place to grow. It was so good to see the Menton’s again and to see how much their children have grown since my previous visit.
I was privileged to meet a man God is using to reach the poorest of the poor in South Africa. His name is Brandon and he planted Kerusso Church in an area called Braelyn. His church is within two miles of a mosque, a Hindu temple, and a Zionist church. Not only are false religions prevalent, but his community is deeply affected by drug use. Brandon said nearly every home he went inside on his prayer march was affected by drugs in one way or another. He is faithfully preaching the Gospel and investing in the next generation of Christians.
I also attended Cambridge Baptist Church for most of my stay in South Africa. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that pastor Siya was preaching through Judges. He is a gifted pastor and preaches Christ every week.
Will you please join me in praying for the Menton’s and all of God’s work in South Africa through His Church?
