WEGO Prayer Guide – May 2025

By Zach Dodd, WEGO Director

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
-Ephesians 2:10

May 7, 2025, will forever be remembered as the most beautiful day in WEGO’s 31-year history.

Byambajargal Urantsetseg was commissioned as the new director of WEGO Mongolia and New Hope Children’s Home—a full-circle moment two decades in the making. This wasn’t just a leadership transition. It was a homecoming.

Byamba (Bim-ba) first came to New Hope Children’s Home in 2006 as a child under our care. “I still vividly remember the moment I first arrived at New Hope. I was a scared, underweight, and hungry nine-year-old boy who had faced unimaginable challenges. My siblings and I were so poor that we used to collect trash with our grandmother just to afford one meal a day,” he shared. “New Hope became a place that introduced me to God and brought me hope, joy, and purpose. It changed my life.”

That life took him far. Byamba discovered a passion for art when an American visitor gifted him a coloring book. Then, years later, he graduated from art school and began a successful career as a painter. Yet even as his works filled galleries and homes across the world, God was painting a bigger story. He placed a burden on Byamba’s heart – to give back to the place that raised him. He began volunteering at New Hope, offering art classes and mentorship inside the walls he used to call home.

Two years ago, I sat across a dinner table from Byamba and other New Hope graduates. They spoke honestly, sharing both the beauty and the challenges of their time with us. Byamba led the charge with a fire of holy discontent. He dreamed of better preparing our children for life after New Hope—through education, life skills, mentorship, and a transitional home for students. He didn’t speak out of bitterness. He spoke out of love, vision, and the stirring of a calling.

When the time came to search for a new director earlier this year, we knew. God had been preparing him all along. Every heartbreak and brushstroke. Every prayer and step.

His enduring strength, deep faith, creative eye, and clear calling made him the answer to our prayers for a new leader. I’ve known Byamba since he was twelve, and to see him step into this role is nothing short of divine orchestration. God prepared him for this. Truly, who could be a better guide for the children of New Hope than one who has already trekked the trail before them?

Byamba’s story is a living testimony for each of us:
That God redeems.
That what breaks us can shape us for His purposes.
That no struggle or stroke is wasted on God’s canvas.

So today, we celebrate. We praise God for Byamba’s life. We honor the faithfulness of every supporter who ever prayed, gave, and believed in the vision of New Hope for the last two decades. Our new leader is the fruit of your faith and sacrifice.

We look forward with joy and expectancy to all that God will continue to do in Mongolia. And we ask you to keep praying – for Byamba, Bolormaa, their children, and the generations of New Hope kids yet to come.

Because the story isn’t over.

It’s only just beginning.

How You Can Pray

From Byamba: To become closer to the children in New Hope and to lead my work with wisdom and intelligence.

Please be praying for Byamba, his wife, Bolormaa, and their two girls, Amin-Erdene and Gegee, as they settle into this new season of life and ministry! We are beyond excited to not just have them lead our ministry but also move into our new house to live, work, and play as one New Hope family.

New Hope Children’s Home has a new leader and a new house! Pray for us as we establish new programs and initiatives to better serve the children under our care through emotional health, socialization, further education, and deeper discipleship – specifically to better prepare our kids for the day they graduate from our home.
