By Miriam Lopez, New Hope School Bible Teacher
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
-John 3:16-17
I want to share with you what has been happening through the ministry in Nicaragua. God has been faithful in his plan. When I first started at New Hope School, I shared with the principal that I wanted to help the students come to Christ. I saw this as my main assignment as the Bible teacher. I wanted the kids to know about Jesus and the Bible. I knew they needed to repent and come to Christ to better understand God and His Word. Many of the students are going through difficulties and it is my job to pray for them and with them. With God’s strength, I can help them understand the love of God embraces and enables us to call upon Him and find peace. Recently, God is showing that He is here working.
One day I was praying, “God touch their hearts by the end of the year that they might come to you and make you their own Savior and Lord.” God is answering this prayer. Within this last month, two girls from seventh grade, two girls from eighth grade, one girl from tenth grade, and one boy from seventh grade have given their lives to God. I can see the students are desperate to know that Jesus is with them in all circumstances and that they don’t need to work hard to be saved because it is only through the grace of God.
I’m so excited to tell you this because in the middle of everything going on, God is working His plan. I am so excited about this because the kids are changing and they are the ones who are deciding to come to Christ. I just help them understand what it means to be saved. I just cannot contain myself. I am so excited and happy. My heart is full of joy knowing that I am where God wants me to be. I will keep working with the rest of the students for the Lord to one day touch their hearts, too.
Our students want to share their testimonies with you. Please join us in celebrating God’s work in their hearts this month. Pray for them and also for more students to experience the love and kindness of Jesus.
From Marcela (12):
My emotional problems helped me to come to Christ. His mercy is for all of us. I felt that I wasn’t good and wanted to end my life. But one day, as we were praying in Bible class, I cried and knew I needed Jesus. I told my teacher I wanted to come to Christ so she prayed with me and read John 3:16. I will never forget that.
From Roxana (12):
I have been going through many emotional problems and recently felt I needed to change something in my life. Our Bible classes have helped me a lot. I have learned that God can help me and give me the strength I need. Jesus gave his life for all of us and through His forgiveness my life is changing. So, I asked my teacher if she had time to talk with me. She did and I decided to come to Christ. I feel much better now. I will be different.
From Yefri (14):
I want to share my history about how I came to Christ. I wasn’t feeling okey and felt that something was missing. I wanted to change my life and I wanted to know Jesus. One month ago, our Bible teacher told us about the return of Christ. As soon as I heard that, something in my heart told me I needed to change my life. So, I told my teacher that I wanted to accept Jesus as my own Savior. She prayed for me and helped me to understand more about the decision I was making. I prayed the prayer and felt a unique peace I have never felt before. Thank you for helping us know Jesus and make him known.
From Cristel (15):
I wasn’t feeling okey. I felt alone. One day my teacher Miriam asked me if I was okey and I told her no. She told me she was going to talk with me. She did and I told her my problems. She smiled and told me it was going to be okey. She said I could trust that Jesus was with me in every moment. I felt it was time to come to Christ. She asked me and I said yes. She prayed for me and I prayed for forgiveness. After that I felt so much different. I have peace knowing that I am not alone and I will never be alone. I gave my life to God and I am saved by grace.
From Perla (12):
I want to share something amazing that happened with me. I was going through a hard situation with my family and friends. Emotionally, I didn’t feel okey. I needed something to help me feel peace and to feel safe. Every time our Bible teacher spoke about Jesus’ love and mercy, my heart would beat really fast. I wanted to know what that feeling was, so I decided to know Jesus more. I told my Bible teacher I wanted to accept Jesus and let Him be the owner of my life. So, my teacher prayed with me and helped me to pray for forgiveness. After that I felt so much different with a different peace and comfort I just can’t explain. Now I am filled with joy because I know I will never be alone. JESUS IS MY SAVIOR. What a wonderful feeling it is to be saved by grace.
From Bianka (13):
All I’ve wanted is to have communion with God because He gave everything for me and my family. I was afraid to accept Him as my Savior but I knew He was looking for me. He is with me and He gave me life. But one day I rejected Him when people came to my house to talk to my family about Jesus and I didn’t want to listen. After that my life changed completely. Everything went bad and I felt real bad because I rejected God’s Word. After that I realized I needed to come to Christ and have a relationship with Him. So, I talked to Claudia, the principal of our school, and shared with her how I was feeling. So she and the Bible teacher helped me to understand the decision I was making and they helped me to pray to know that Jesus was there with me. They both helped me to pray to ask Jesus to come into my heart. Now my life has changed and I am a different person. Now I think I’m safe and my soul is secure in Christ.
