By Aaron White, WEGO Storyteller
“For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.”
Luke 22:27
“Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
Hebrews 7:25
How could it be that the most supreme being that has ever existed would humble himself in service to his children? Yet in these two verses, we find Jesus doing exactly that. In Luke 22, Christ is with his disciples. Fully man, fully God, and fully humbling himself to serve his followers. First in lifelong acts of service, then finally at the cross. In Hebrews we pick up after Jesus’s resurrection, to find he is serving us as high priest, even now, interceding for us at the throne of God.
Servants are not above their master, but Jesus flips the script to clarify that his servants are nothing without their master. Because in the kingdom of God the first are last and the last are first, so we cannot hope to serve humbly in the kingdom of God without accepting first the saving service of our Creator. But once he has served us by giving us everything, we are at once members of this kingdom, called and equipped to serve. A kingdom where humility gives glory to Christ and human glory is nothing. Where even the master is interceding for us, acting on our behalf even beyond the service of the Cross.
So as you read the guide this month, consider how God has called you to serve, particularly in prayer. We are nothing without Christ, and he has admitted us to his kingdom where he is in constant prayerful service for us: is that not an invitation for us to serve one another in the same way?
Join Us in Praying for Our Home Build!
This month, pray with us for the entryway in the new children’s home. In frozen tundras, enclosed entryways are just as important as bathrooms. This room is where shoes are kept and how the cold is kept outside.
How You Can Pray
We long for our home to not just be a shelter but a launching pad for missionaries. Pray Isaiah 52:7, that beautiful feet walk out these doors to proclaim peace and salvation.

Church of God – Nicaragua
From Pastor Cipriano:
“Hello, everyone. I’m 56 years old, and I’ve been a pastor for 20 years. My wife’s name is Fany, and we have 3 children together who have all grown and started their own families. We’re working on a special plan in our church to reach Nicaragua. We’re going to preach until the last person in this country hears about Jesus. I love what I do because God has called me and given me the desire to do it. We just had a baptism where 10 souls decided to follow the Lord. We also have the opportunity to provide the new believers with a Bible through an ONG. We are so thankful for God’s faithfulness. We will keep serving Him even more now with the pandemic situation. Jesus is coming. We must prepare. Thank you so much for your prayers. You will be in our prayers, too.”
How You Can Pray:
1) Pray for the lost.
2) Pray God would allow Nicaragua to become more united.
3) Pray that God would give us more passion and compassion for the people.
Purevsed – Ministry Director, Mongolia
About Purevsed (standing, center):
Purevsed is WEGO’s ministry director for Mongolia. He is married to Aaya, who is the Children’s Home Director. It is a massive understatement to call him an interesting person. He is a talented musician, a formidable chess player, a father and grandfather. He is also an incredibly patient person, who seems to exude the calm humility of trust in the Lord. His favorite Bible verse is 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
How You Can Pray:
1) Pray that God would help him as he works on getting a land certificate for WEGO.
2) Pray for his family and children, that God would bless them.
3) Pray God would protect he and his wife from Covid and keep them healthy.
4) Pray that God would give him wisdom as he leads WEGO’s Mongolian ministry.
Zhelyde – Bible Club Teacher, Nicaragua
From Zhelyde:
“I am now 23 years old and have been working for WEGO for 4 years. I attend Monte Sinai Church located at Diriamba City. I thank the Lord because he has helped me so much, at all times. I love the kids. I’ve learned from them, because a kid has a humble and pure heart. I feel that even though I’m their Bible teacher, I’m the one who is learning from them and they are the ones who are teaching me values, patience, etc. I am so grateful to God that I know, no matter what happens, the seed that I’ve planted through the Bible in those kid’s hearts will bear fruit. We are not only reaching the kids for the kingdom of God, but their parents, too. Keep praying for us as we do for you all.”
How You Can Pray:
1) Pray that God would give me a kid’s heart.
2) Pray God would give me wisdom.
3) Pray that God would grow me spiritually.
