I have been thinking about verses 8 and 9 of 2 Chronicles 20 (from the last WEGO Prayer Guide for Ukraine). It’s from Solomon’s prayer when the temple was opening.
“They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying, ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.”
And I was reading 1 Kings 8:37-40, especially verses 39 and 40.
“When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when an enemy besieges them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of the afflictions of their own hearts, and spreading out their hands toward this temple— then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know every human heart), so that they will fear you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.”
I am sure that God does not come to make the life of a nation better or easier, not even for His nation, Israel. God’s answer came to Solomon in 1 Kings 9:2-9.
“I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. “As for you, if you walk before me faithfully with integrity of heart and uprightness, as David your father did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’
I’m sure that God comes to a nation when the nation turns its face to Him and to His Glory.

Pray For My Son, Alexander
Pray for our son (who is serving in the military) and for our families. I gave this cup to him when he was already there. I miss him very, very much.
Pray For Our Ministries In Ukraine
Pray for our ministry – for camps this summer (Young Life special needs ministry), and for me as I preach this Sunday in church. And always pray for our ministry to soldiers. Now I can see many soldiers in hospitals who say, “Yes, I believe that God has saved me.”
